David is CEO of ANZ New Zealand and is also responsible for leading ANZ's commercial segment globally. During his 32-year career at ANZ, David has held a number of senior executive roles in retail and commercial banking, including two years as Managing Director of UDC Finance between 1998 and 2000. In 2013 David won the Asian Banker CEO Leadership Achievement Award for New Zealand for successfully leading the merger of The National Bank of New Zealand with ANZ.
Managing Director, Institutional

David is responsible for managing ANZ's relationships with large Corporate and Institutional clients and providing them with specialised markets, transactional and financing products and solutions. David has held a number of senior Institutional banking roles at ANZ and Deutsche Bank in Australia and New Zealand and has more than 25 years of experience in the finance and banking sector in senior management, advisory, structuring, underwriting and markets.
Managing Director Commercial & Agri

Graham is responsible for ANZ’s Commercial & Agri team which is New Zealand’s leading provider of rural financial services. The business meets the needs of customers in the corporate, property construction finance and commercial sectors including UDC Finance.
Graham has more than 25 years of experience in corporate finance and debt capital markets and has been involved in many of New Zealand’s complex corporate finance transactions.
Managing Director, Wealth

John is responsible for ANZ’s Wealth & Private Banking business in New Zealand. This part of the business provides private banking, insurance, investment, KiwiSaver and other retirement savings products and services to help New Zealanders build and protect their wealth.
John’s experience includes working for ANZ's markets business for 22 years. He has held a range of senior positions in Singapore, Melbourne and New Zealand.
Managing Director, Retail & Business Banking

Fred leads the team that supports ANZ’s personal and small business customers. His focus is to help more New Zealanders to achieve their goals and ensure they’re receiving great customer service. Fred joined ANZ Australia in December 2001 and came to ANZ New Zealand in 2010 to lead the Business Banking team. In 2013 his role grew to also manage the Retail division. Previously Fred held a number of positions across the group including General Manager Global Commercial Banking and General Manager Commercial Products.
Chief Operating Officer
Craig is responsible for ANZ’s Technology and Project portfolio along with Supplier Shared Services and Property functions. Craig led the New Zealand Simplification programme which launched the new ANZ in October 2012. Craig has more than 27 years’ experience in financial services with senior roles in Retail and Business Banking. This includes ANZ’s acquisition of selected Royal Bank of Scotland businesses in Asia and holding senior roles within The National Bank.

Antonia is responsible for Finance, Taxation, Treasury and Internal Audit. Prior to accepting this role in December 2012, Antonia was ANZ New Zealand’s Financial Controller for three years. Antonia has also worked for Morgan Stanley in Hungary where she was General Manager of their business services and technology centre that served North America and Europe. She also worked for Morgan Stanley in Sydney, where she was Head of Finance and Infrastructure.
Chief Risk Officer

Bruce leads New Zealand’s risk management function including wholesale and retail credit risk, market, operating and compliance risk, as well as lending services, portfolio reporting and provisioning functions. Bruce has more than 26 years of experience in banking, starting out with The National Bank, including experience in managing the wholesale banking operational risk and compliance, lending services and credit risk functions. He is a Senior Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia.
General Manager Human Resources
Felicity is responsible for leading strategies, programmes and policies to support the employment and development of ANZ’s 9,000 employees in New Zealand. Felicity has more than 25 years of experience in Human Resources and has worked in a number of senior roles at ANZ and provided HR support during the merger of ANZ and The National Bank.
Head of Corporate Affairs

Peter is responsible for leading ANZ’s external and internal communications, including engagement with staff, media, government, regulators, NGOs and other stakeholders. Peter has 25 years of experience in Corporate Affairs and his experience covers international affairs, acquisitions, national education campaigns, journalism and politics.

Craig is responsible for legal and corporate governance matters for ANZ and its New Zealand businesses. He has more than 20 years experience in legal and commercial roles across a range of industries in New Zealand and overseas. Prior to joining ANZ in 2011, Craig worked in a leading private practice in New Zealand and held a number of high profile in-house legal roles in large listed and private companies. Craig has extensive governance experience as a director on private and joint venture companies and advising boards of directors.
The Board is responsible for the governance and overall direction of the organisation, considering the needs of shareholders, staff and the community.
Independent Non-Executive Director & Chairman
John Judge was appointed to the Board in December 2008. Formerly a Chief Executive of Ernst and Young New Zealand, John has considerable experience in Australasian business and brings extensive financial and analytical knowledge to the Board. He is a director of Fletcher Building Limited and Fletcher Building Finance Limited and is a former Chairman of the Crown organisation, Accident Compensation Corporation. John is also a member of the Otago University School of Business Advisory Board.

David is CEO New Zealand and a member of the ANZ Group Management Board. He is also responsible for ANZ’s Commercial business globally. Michael Smith has been Chief Executive Officer of ANZ since October 2007.
Prior to joining ANZ, Michael was President and Chief Executive Officer, The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited; Chairman, Hang Seng Bank Limited; Global Head of Commercial Banking for the HSBC Group and Chairman, HSBC Bank Malaysia Berhad. He is a Member of the Asia Business Council, the Business Council of Australia, and the Australian Bankers’ Association Council.
Shayne Elliott is Chief Financial Officer of ANZ, a position he was appointed to in June 2012. Shayne is responsible for all aspects of Finance as well as Legal, Treasury and Investor Relations. In this role, Shayne also has responsibility for Group Strategy and Mergers and Acquisitions. Shayne joined ANZ (and the Board) in June 2009 as the Chief Executive Officer, Institutional, overseeing all businesses that deal with ANZ's large business, corporate and institutional customers. Previously, Shayne was Head of Business Development at EFG Hermes, the largest investment bank in the Middle East, and spent more than 20 years at Citigroup.

Tony Carter joined the Board in August 2011. From 2001 to 2010, Tony was Managing Director of Foodstuffs (Auckland) and Foodstuffs (New Zealand), New Zealand's largest retail organisation. He has extensive experience in retail and has owned and operated several Mitre 10 hardware stores, and was a director and Chairman of Mitre 10 New Zealand Limited. Tony is a director of Air New Zealand Limited, Fletcher Building Limited, Fletcher Building and Finance Limited and Vector Limited and he is a Fellow of the NZ Institute of Management.
Independent Non-Executive Director
Joan Withers has an extensive career in management and governance roles in New Zealand’s media and became an independent Director of our company in July 2013. Joan is the former CEO of Fairfax Media and The Radio Network and is the Deputy Chairperson of Television New Zealand. She is also the Chair of Auckland International Airport Ltd and Mighty River Power Ltd and is on the advisory board of The Treasury.
Joan is a trustee of the Tindall Foundation and the Louise Perkins Foundation (Sweet Louise). She also chairs the steering group for Grow Our Own Workforce, a project that provides a pipeline for Maori and Pacifika students in South Auckland aspiring to achieve a career in the health sector within the Counties Manukau District Health Board. She has an MBA from the University of Auckland and is the author of "A Girl's Guide to Business" which was published by Penguin in 1998.
Independent Non-Executive Director
Mark Verbiest was appointed to the Board in October 2013. Mark has extensive experience in telecommunications, corporate governance and the digital economy. He brings a wealth of knowledge gained from a variety of sectors, including SOEs, Government bodies and the private sector. He is currently Chairman of Telecom Corporation of New Zealand Limited, Transpower New Zealand Limited and Willis Bond Capital Partners Limited. He is also a Director of Freightways Limited and a Board member of the Financial Markets Authority.
Nigel Williams was appointed as an alternate director for Michael Smith in January 2014. Nigel is ANZ’s Group Chief Risk Officer and former Managing Director, Institutional, Australia. Prior to joining ANZ in Australia he worked for ANZ National Bank of New Zealand and Southpac in New Zealand. A graduate of Otago University, he is a former Director of NZX Limited, E*TRADE Australia Limited and Australian Financial Markets Association, and a past Board member of INFINZ. He is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors, and in 2009 was awarded a fellow of INFINZ. He was a member of New Zealand’s 2008 Capital Market Development Taskforce.
