Account's Key Date

An account's key date is the date of the month on which your account was opened. So, if your account was opened on the 11th of the month, this is your account's key date. This account's key date is important because it triggers the following:

  • Interest will be credited or debited to an account on this date.
  • Administration and account transaction fees will be charged to an account on this date.
  • A statement will be issued on this date, unless you have specially agreed otherwise with ANZ, or if you have a passbook to record transactions on an account.

Note: Each of your accounts has its own key date.

Manual transactions

These are transaction completed with the assistance of ANZ staff and include making in-branch deposits, cheques written, withdrawals or transfers.

Note: Deposits made through an ANZ Fast Deposit Box are charged as staff-assisted transactions.

ATM/Electronic transactions

These are transactions completed without the assistance of Bank staff and include ATM, EFTPOS, ANZ Phone Direct, ANZ Internet Banking, automatic payments (AP), direct debits (DD), direct credits (DC), Bill Payment and Pay Anyone transactions.

ANZ Phone Direct

ANZ Phone Direct fees are calculated per calendar month and charged to the first linked account on the account's key date. Call charges will apply for calls made from overseas or cellular phones.
