There are times when it can be helpful to have a break from your home loan payments for a little while - for example, when you’ve just welcomed a new baby into your family, or if you are temporarily out of work. That’s why at ANZ you can apply to:
- get an ANZ Home Loan Repayment Holiday, or
- reduce your repayments for a while.
How does a home loan repayment holiday work?
If you have an ANZ fixed or floating mortgage, you can apply for an ANZ Home Loan Repayment Holiday of up to three months. During your mortgage repayment holiday, you won't have to make your regular repayments, although interest on the amount of principal outstanding will still accumulate.
Once your mortgage repayment holiday is over, you can choose to increase your repayments or extend the loan term to cover the extra interest and the payments that have been put on hold.
You can apply for an ANZ Home Loan Repayment Holiday once every two years at ANZ’s discretion.
Reducing your payments
If you need to reduce your payments for a while, come and talk to us. We may be able to help you restructure your home loan to allow you to make smaller regular payments, by increasing the term of your loan. And when you’re able to, you can increase your payments again at any time.
