ANZ Travel Card is the easier, more convenient way to carry foreign currency overseas. It's a reloadable prepaid MasterCard® that allows you to spend in the local currency.
The ANZ Travel Card is available in four different currencies:
- Australian Dollars
- US Dollars
- Euros
- British Pounds.
Because the ANZ Travel Card is a MasterCard® you can use it at more than 25 million locations worldwide electronically.
Security and convenience
With ANZ Travel Card you get the convenience of cash with the security of MasterCard®. The ANZ Travel Card is chip and PIN protected and can be used at millions of locations worldwide. When you purchase an ANZ Travel Card we give you two cards just in case something happens while you're away. If you lose the first card or it's stolen, you can still use the other card to access your money. So you don't have to wait for a replacement card.
Control
You can set your spending budget and know exactly how much you're spending. Unlike debit or credit cards, you'll know the balance of your ANZ Travel Card in the currency that you're spending in. This makes it easier to manage your spending while you're travelling. And if you do run out of money while you're away you can transfer funds to your card using Bill Payment from your online or phone banking (fees apply).
Lock in the rate
You can buy your ANZ Travel Card and take advantage of the exchange rate. Unlike credit or debit cards, once you've purchased and loaded your ANZ Travel Card with foreign currency, you won't be affected by fluctuations in exchange rates. You'll also have lower transaction costs than debit and credit cards with a more transparent fee structure so you'll know what everything is costing you.
The ANZ Travel Card is the smarter, easier way to carry foreign currency abroad. ANZ Travel Card is available in a choice of four foreign currencies and can be used everywhere MasterCard® is accepted electronically (it won't work with the old 'zip zap' machines). This means no exchange rate worries, no fussing with travellers cheques, and it's much easier to budget.

| What is it? |

| What is the benefit of an ANZ Travel Card over travellers cheques? |
|---|
|
You can buy your foreign currency (Euro, British Pounds, American or Australian Dollars) before you leave – but instead of travelling with wads of paper based cheques, your foreign currency is loaded onto a card. This makes a Travel Card much more convenient than travellers cheques because there's no need to 'cash them in' at foreign exchange bureaus or banks while you're travelling – you just use your Travel Card wherever MasterCard® is accepted electronically (it won't work with the old 'zip zap' machines). |
| How does the 'chip' on the card work? |
|---|
|
The 'chip' is a new security feature, and enforces the use of a PIN at chip-enabled retailers. The main difference from cards that don't contain a chip is that you'll notice some retailers will insert the card in the EFTPOS terminal and keep it there while you enter your PIN and the transaction is processed. |
| How much does it cost? |
|---|
| What happens if I use my ANZ Travel Card for a transaction in a different currency? |
|---|
|
You can still use your ANZ Travel Card for purchases in other currencies. Transactions that aren't in your card's currency will be converted to the currency of your card at the applicable conversion rate and will be subject to a currency conversion fee (for details see our fee schedule and ANZ Travel Card Terms and Conditions). |

Yes, an ANZ Travel Card is also perfect for people that want to make purchases from overseas websites. Purchases in a currency other than that loaded on the card will attract a 2.5% currency conversion fee. |
