The New Zealand Retail Deposit Guarantee Scheme

ANZ National Bank Limited has a guarantee under the New Zealand retail deposit guarantee scheme for its call (including transaction and savings accounts) and term deposits. Further, the Crown has agreed to extend the benefit of this guarantee to the ANZ Call Fund and the ANZ Term Fund.

The ANZ Call Fund and ANZ Term Fund only invest in deposits guaranteed under the New Zealand deposit guarantee scheme.

There are conditions on the availability of the guarantee to investors. These include:

  • Maximum guarantee limits of:
    • $1,000,000 NZD per investor in respect of all their call and term deposit products (i.e. regardless of the number of deposit products an investor will only ever be able to claim $1,000,000); plus
    • $1,000,000 NZD per investor for the ANZ Call Fund; plus
    • $1,000,000 NZD per investor for the ANZ Term Fund;
  • Investor eligibility criteria - the guarantee is not available to related parties of ANZ National Bank Limited or financial institutions;
  • The termination date which applies to the scheme - the guarantee is only available until 12 October 2010.
