Make a difference to your career and your community

See your impact at ANZ and in your community

Our purpose drives everything we do at ANZ, including the choices we make each day about those we serve and how we operate. Our people play an active role in our commitment to:

  • Improve the financial wellbeing of our people, customers and communities by helping them make the most of their money throughout their lives
  • Support household, business and financial practices that improve environmental sustainability
  • Improve the availability of suitable and affordable housing options for all New Zealanders.

ANZ Staff Foundation

ANZ double matches donations made by employees in New Zealand and Fiji through payroll to their respective staff foundations (charitable trusts that provide small grants). Employees can support a charity’s application, while an advisory board of experienced ANZ staff assess and recommend recipients in each funding round.

Together with our employees, we donated over $3 million to charitable organisations in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji in 2022.

Charities

Here is just a small sample of some of the charities we’ve been able to support:

Donate your time

ANZ provides each staff member with at least one day of Volunteer Leave each year, making it easy to help out in their community to make an impact. In 2021 we received Volunteering Auckland’s: Leaders of Volunteer Engagement (LoVE) Corporate Champion award, recognising our dedication and commitment to promote volunteering.

Community organisations

In our 2022 Financial Year, our people volunteered over more than 6,555 working days to community organisations including:

Elizabeth – Teacher for Ted’s Space

“Support dog Teddy is a huge source of comfort for Wellington school children.

Teddy’s job is about teaching skills like resilience, empathy, compassion, courage and consent.

We need funding to be able to consistently provide this program to schools. The ANZ Staff Foundation funding has been incredible for us."

Improving mobile banking in the Pacific

As part of our partnership with the United Nations Development Program, ANZ is committed to delivering basic, affordable, and reliable banking services to remote and disadvantaged communities.

Our teams are helping to address the “financial inclusion gap” by providing more flexibility for customers who want to transfer funds to family and friends in rural and outer island areas.

You can find out more about how ANZ is having an impact in the community in our Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) Supplement report.
