Choosing the right fund

Choosing the right fund for you is important because it can have a big impact on the amount you have in retirement. Simply select either from one of our six funds, or our ‘Lifetimes’ option where your savings are moved through the six funds based on your age.

Need help?

If  you want help choosing from our funds, you can:

Conservative Fund

Invests mainly in income assets (cash and cash equivalents and fixed interest), with a smaller exposure to growth assets (equities, listed property and listed infrastructure). The fund may also invest in alternative assets.

There are some differences in the way we manage the Conservative Funds within the ANZ KiwiSaver Scheme and the ANZ Default KiwiSaver Scheme.

All of our funds, and underlying funds they invest in, are actively managed except for the underlying fund for international share assets for the ANZ Default KiwiSaver Scheme Conservative Fund (which is passively managed).

For more information please see the guide and product disclosure statement relevant to the scheme you belong to.

Cash Fund

Invests mainly in cash and cash equivalents. These may include cash and cash equivalents issued by the New Zealand Government, New Zealand-registered banks, corporations or local authorities, or non-New Zealand sovereign, supranationals or related agencies denominated in New Zealand dollars.

Our Lifetimes option

Our Lifetimes option is not a separate fund. When you select the Lifetimes option, at any one time your savings are invested in one of our six funds based on your age.

As you get older and reach the next age range, we move your savings to a different fund (as shown below). For example, during the month you turn 46 we will switch you from the Balanced Growth Fund to the Balanced Fund.  We keep doing this until you turn 65, when your savings stay invested in the Cash Fund until you withdraw them. You can switch in or out of the Lifetimes option at any time.

lifetimes options
Age Fund
0 - 35  Growth
36 - 45 Balanced Growth
46 - 55 Balanced
56 - 60 Conservative Balanced
61 - 64 Conservative

The key benefit is that you’re always invested in a fund that has levels of risk and expected returns that are considered appropriate for an average person of your age.
