Basic Contents and Motor Vehicle Insurance

If you're flatting or living away from home, chances are you won't have a whole house load of stuff to insure, and you may not  want all the bells and whistles when it comes to car insurance. ANZ Base Protect - Contents and Motor Vehicle provides simple, affordable cover for the things you do have.

Contents insurance

  • Includes cover for items like your computer, laptop, bicycle, mobile phone and camera. Note, you'll only be paid second hand market value on the items you've claimed on.
  • If your home is uninhabitable and you've made a contents claim (for example if there was a fire) we'll cover the reasonable cost of temporary accommodation.
  • Legal liability cover up to $2 million for loss or damage to someone else's property, and up to $1 million for accidental bodily injury.

Third Party, Fire and Theft

  • Insures your car for its market value if it suffers accidental loss or damage due to fire or theft. 
  • Legal liability cover for up to $20 million plus legal costs if you accidentally damage someone else's property. 
  • Legal liability cover for up to $1 million if you accidentally cause injury to another person.
  • Cover of up to $3,000 for uninsured motorist protection if you're involved in an accident if the other party is identified, uninsured and proven to be at fault.
  • Optional extra - Roadside Assistance, a 24-hour "rescue service" to help with breakdowns, empty fuel tanks, flat tyres and batteries and other roadside problems.
