Summer 2023 Edition
Welcome to the first issue of InPrivate for 2023.
Right now we’re celebrating the 2023 Lunar New Year, the Year of the Rabbit – though it’s safe to say the economic landscape is looking more tortoise than hare, as we brace for a potential recession. Many of the issues faced by financial markets in 2022 will continue into 2023, so it’s wise to be prepared for a challenging year ahead – however, there is a ray of light on the horizon, as you’ll read in this edition. Along with our investment update for the December quarter, we’ll explore the market outlook for 2023 to see how things are shaping up.
Innovation is key to surviving (and thriving) in the digital age, you can read about some of the game-changing new features we’ve launched in ANZ Internet Banking and the goMoney app. With each new feature, ANZ goMoney feels more and more like a personal banker in your pocket. I’m excited to see what comes next as the impossible becomes possible.
Back in the physical world: fresh off the back of a successful 2022 Aotearoa Art Fair (which only just took place in November due to COVID delays), you’ll find us soaking up the art and atmosphere at the 2023 instalment. ANZ has been Lead Partner of the Fair for the past 16 years, and it’s always a pleasure to be swept up in the vibrancy of this iconic event. Whether you’re a seasoned collector, or just starting to dip your toes in, I encourage you to come along in March and enjoy a terrific showcase of Pacific Rim art.
Finally, I’m thrilled to share that ANZ has won Best Private Bank in New Zealand at the Global Private Banking Awards – the fifth year in a row we’ve received this accolade, which is a testament to the hard work of our dedicated team. I’m proud that we were recognised for our commitment to responsible investing, our support for emerging clients, and providing an uninterrupted service during 2021’s COVID-19 lockdown.
