We’re aware that customers are receiving cold calls from scammers impersonating ANZ and attempting to imitate ANZ Caller Check. These callers may send fake ‘security verification’ messages via email, SMS or messaging apps such as WhatsApp to convince customers they’re speaking with ANZ.
Scammers may claim that verification needs to be completed via email or SMS. This is a scam.
If you don’t use goMoney, Caller Check is not available.
Remember, ANZ Caller Check notifications are only sent through the ANZ goMoney app. ANZ will never send Caller Check requests via email, SMS, WhatsApp or any other messaging platform. If you receive one anywhere other than goMoney, it’s a scam.
If you’re on a call with someone claiming to be from ANZ, you can quickly and easily verify it’s really us. Simply request an ANZ Caller Check secure notification and we will send it to your ANZ goMoney app. If they can’t do this, hang up and contact ANZ directly using the phone number or contact method listed on our official website.
How to help protect yourself
Never disclose your Internet Banking login details, full credit card details and two-factor authentication codes to anyone. ANZ will never ask for this information by email, text or phone call.
Never click links, download attachments or call numbers in unknown, unexpected or suspicious messages. Access Internet Banking through the official ANZ website.
If you receive a suspicious message or call, hang up and contact ANZ directly using the phone number or contact method listed on our official website.
Always pause and reassess the situation. Scammers often create a sense of urgency, pressuring you to act quickly.
