If you apply using our online form, we'll call you to organise a visit to a branch to confirm your identity. If you apply using the goMoney mobile app you won't need to visit a branch.

Learn about accounts for kids

Join us using the ANZ goMoney mobile app

Join ANZ using the goMoney mobile app in around 15 minutes. You won't need to visit a branch - how easy is that!

You can join using the app if you:

  • Live in New Zealand,
  • Are 18 or over, and
  • Hold a current New Zealand passport or driver licence.

And you want to apply for one of the following accounts:

  • Go account, or 
  • Jumpstart account. Note: if you’re 21 or older and studying full-time you can apply for a Jumpstart account, but you’ll need to do so using the online form


How to apply:

  1. Download ANZ goMoney New Zealand from your app store.
  2. Select "Join ANZ" to start your application.
  3. Take a photo of your ID, and a selfie video on your phone to confirm your identity.
  4. Answer some questions about how you intend to use your account.

Bank the way you want

  • Bank 24/7 with ANZ Internet Banking, the ANZ goMoney mobile app or Phone Banking. You can:
    • check your balance
    • transfer money between accounts
    • pay bills and people
    • manage automatic payments.
  • Get access to cash from our extensive network of ATMs. And, make cash deposits into your account at our Smart ATMs. 
  • Talk to someone when you need to. Our contact centre is open 6am – 12 midnight, 7 days a week.

Easy ways to pay

  • Enjoy the convenience of an ANZ Visa Debit card wherever Visa is accepted. You can:
    • tap and pay at thousands of contactless terminals in New Zealand 
    • shop online 
    • use it overseas 
    • withdraw cash at ATMs.
  • Pay with your smartphone using Apple Paydisclaimer or Google Pay™disclaimer.
  • Send money to anyone with a New Zealand bank account using just their mobile number with 'Pay to Mobile'. 
  • Send money overseas with ANZ Internet Banking or goMoney – it’s fast and easy!

Control is in your hands

  • Manage your cards online using ANZ Card Manager to:
    • temporarily block your card if you’ve misplaced it
    • report it missing or stolen, and request a replacement card 
    • set and change your card PINs.
  • Set up balance and deposit alerts in ANZ goMoney so you can stay on top of your money.
  • Register for statement text alerts so you never miss a payment on your credit card.
  • Turn off paper statements and save paper.

Help to keep your money safe

We’re committed to helping keep you and your money safe from scams and fraud. Here’s how we help protect your banking:

  • Round the clock fraud monitoring systems and a dedicated team who review banking activity.
  • Two-layer authentication using OnlineCode to protect you when using online banking.
  • Voice ID allows you to identify yourself with our contact centre, or log in to ANZ Phone Banking, using your unique and secure voiceprint.
  • Visa Secure helps protect you from unauthorised use of your card online.
  • Visa’s Zero Liability policydisclaimer means you won’t be held accountable for fraudulent charges or unauthorised purchases.

Automated transactions include EFTPOS, Visa Debit, ATM, and mobile wallet transactions, as well as all electronic payments and other transactions made using ANZ Internet Banking, goMoney, Phone Banking, and ANZ Direct Online. 


Manual transactions include transactions handled by our staff for you, including at a branch, by phone, or online. Balances and basic account enquiries at a branch are free. We process any deposits received through ANZ Fast Deposit Boxes as staff-assisted, manual transactions.


Must be 13 years or over to apply for an ANZ Visa Debit card.


The Visa Debit annual card fee will be waived if the card is linked to an ANZ Freedom or ANZ Jumpstart account. It will also be waived for the first 12 months for a new card linked to an ANZ Go account (after 12 months you will be charged an annual card fee of $10). For all other accounts you will be charged an annual card fee of $10.


All overdrafts are subject to application and ANZ eligibility criteria, lending criteria and terms and conditions. Overdraft fees may apply. See ANZ Overdraft for more information.

A monthly account fee of $5 will apply if the $2,500 minimum deposit is not met. Deposits exclude transfers between any of your ANZ accounts.
