We’re aware of a phishing scam where individuals are receiving text messages impersonating ANZ or other trusted organisations with reference to points or rewards. These messages may claim that reward points are about to expire and include a link to redeem them. The link directs you to a fake website designed to steal your information.
Be cautious of unexpected text messages, emails or phone calls, claiming to be from ANZ. They may ask you to log in to your account through a link, disclose full credit card details, online banking passwords and two factor authentication codes, grant remote access to your device, download software, transfer money or open another account.
We will never send text messages or emails with links to log into ANZ Internet Banking.
For the security of your information and device:
- Do not click on any links
- Delete the message immediately.
How to help protect yourself
- Never click links, download attachments or call numbers in unexpected or suspicious messages.
- ANZ will never send you a text message and ask you to click on a link.
- Always access Internet Banking through the official ANZ website, not from links in text messages or emails.
- Never disclose your Internet Banking login details, full credit card details and two-factor authentication codes to anyone. ANZ will never ask for this information via email, text or phone call.
- Do not grant remote access to your devices through links in emails or texts, or in response to a phone call you’ve received out of the blue.
- Always pause and reassess the situation. Scammers often create a sense of urgency, pressuring you to act quickly.
