If you're experiencing financial hardship, you're not alone.

Life is unpredictable and things don’t always go the way you plan. Financial hardship can happen to anyone and for many different reasons such as: losing your job, being unable to work for medical reasons or a relationship breakdown.

At ANZ, we understand that when you’re experiencing financial difficulties it can be overwhelming. Here you’ll find information about ways we may be able to provide financial hardship assistance, to help you through difficult times.

COVID-19 (coronavirus) latest updates

With New Zealand moving into Alert Level 2, we’ll be gradually opening more branches and extending our opening hours. As always, the safety of our customers and staff remains our primary concern. If you’re experiencing financial hardship please call us. We’re here to help and are working on other financial support options to help our customers get through COVID-19:


Am I in financial hardship?

Hardship can affect people in different ways. We may be able to provide you with hardship assistance depending on your circumstances.

Do any of these apply to you?

  • Have you lost your job recently?
  • Have you recently experienced a reduction in income?
  • Have you suffered an illness or injury that has affected your ability to earn?
  • Has a relationship breakdown made it difficult for you to meet your financial commitments?
  • Has a natural disaster affected your income or household situation?
  • Have you recently experienced an unforeseen significant event that affects your finances?

If you have answered yes to any of these situations, we may be able to assist. Find out more about the possible assistance available to you.

If none of these situations apply to you, but you are still having financial difficulties, we may still be able to help. Please call us on 0800 269 296 (6am to 12 midnight, 7 days a week) to talk through your options. Please note, we are experiencing a high number of calls at the moment and response time may be delayed. We appreciate your patience.
