Financial crime

Our financial crime team helps to protect our customers, communities and ANZ from the harmful effects of financial crime. We do this by supporting our businesses in understanding and mitigating financial crime risks and threats.

Risk metrics and measurement

Risk metrics and measurement is tasked with developing advanced analytical techniques to quantify and predict risk
in ANZ.

This is a data intensive and solution-focused team operating at the forefront of analytics. The function supports our frontline and enablement teams to deliver on their strategy by providing risk measurement capabilities to make the right decisions for the customer, ANZ and New Zealand. 

Credit risk

Our credit risk team partners with the business to set, monitor, and adjust credit policy and risk appetite settings to ensure great outcomes for ANZ, our staff and customers. This includes oversight of credit risk management, implementing risk frameworks and portfolio analysis to ensure the performance of the portfolio is fully understood and changes to risk settings are made in a dynamic environment. Additionally, credit risk undertake credit assessment and decision-making with the business at both a customer and portfolio level.

Operational risk and compliance

Operational risk and compliance is part of the second line of defence providing independent oversight and frameworks for the bank's non-financial risks. These risks are inherent in running a large, complex financial services organisation, and include risks associated with data management, financial crime, regulatory compliance, fraud, and technology amongst others.

The operational risk and compliance team supports our frontline and enablement teams to deliver on their strategy by providing independent oversight of their approach to non-financial risk management. 

Market risk and treasury risk

Market risk is responsible for ensuring market risk exposures managed by the markets business are within approved risk appetite and policy frameworks. The team also provides independent oversight of the market risk positions of the bank.

Treasury risk is responsible for ensuring treasury manages ANZ’s funding and liquidity positions within the approved risk appetite and policy frameworks. The treasury risk team provides independent oversight and compliance monitoring of ANZ’s liquidity and funding risk positions, including approving transaction requests.
