Learn about accounts for kids

Join us using the ANZ goMoney mobile app

Join ANZ using the goMoney mobile app in approximately 10 minutes. Then we’ll call you to finish setting up your account over the phone, so you won’t need to visit a branch. How easy is that!

You can join using the app if you:

  • Live in New Zealand,
  • Are 18 or over, and
  • Hold a current New Zealand passport or driver licence.

And you want to apply for one of the following accounts:

  • Go account, or 
  • Jumpstart account. Note: if you’re 21 or older and studying full-time you can apply for a Jumpstart account, but you’ll need to do so using the online form


How to apply:

  1. Download ANZ goMoney New Zealand from your app store.
  2. Select "Join ANZ" to start your application.
  3. Take a photo of your ID, and a selfie video on your phone to confirm your identity.
  4. We'll call you within two days to finish opening your account over the phone.

Control is in your hands

  • Manage your cards online using ANZ Card Manager to:
    • temporarily block your card if you’ve misplaced it
    • report it missing or stolen, and request a replacement card 
    • set and change your card PINs.
  • Set up balance and deposit alerts in ANZ goMoney so you can stay on top of your money.
  • Register for statement text alerts so you never miss a payment on your credit card.
  • Turn off paper statements and save paper.

ANZ ‘Win $5,000 cash’ Prize Draw Competition Terms and Conditions:

A. The ANZ ‘Win $5,000 cash’ Prize Draw Competition commences on Friday 22 January 2021 at 12.01am and ends at 11.59pm on Friday 30 April 2021.

B. Information on the Prize Draw is set out under these terms and conditions. If you meet the eligibility criteria, you’ll automatically go in to the Prize Draw, and you’re deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions.

C. Entry is open to New Zealand residents and people living in New Zealand with at least 6 months remaining on a valid visa, provided you’re 16 years or older.

D. To be eligible to win a Prize you must:

a. open a new ANZ everyday account between 12.01am Friday 22 January 2021 and 11.59pm Friday 30 April 2021; 

b. not have held (individually, jointly, or as trustee of a trust or partner of a partnership) an ANZ everyday account at any time between 21 July 2020 and 21 January 2021.

E. An ANZ everyday account includes any of the following accounts; Freedom, Go, Jumpstart, Select, Benefits, Premium, Private Banking Current Account, or Agri Personal Current Account.

F.  For an ANZ everyday account to be opened, you must have completed all our account opening requirements. As part of those requirements, you may need to visit an ANZ branch with a valid form of ID (such as a passport or national ID card) and evidence of your address (such as a statement) to verify your identity.

G. The new account opened must be in personal names, individually or jointly, and cannot be in the name of a company, partnership, other entity, or as trustee of a trust. For joint accounts – each individual account owner will be eligible for the draw.

H. Entry is limited to one per person.

I. ANZ Staff are not eligible to enter the Prize Draw.

J. The ‘Prize’ is one (1) of six (6) $5,000 cash prizes, which will be paid into the winner’s new ANZ account. The account must be open when the Prize is drawn.

K. The first six (6) entries drawn that comply with these Terms and Conditions will win a Prize.

L. The Prize Draw will take place the week commencing 10 May 2021 and the winners will be notified by email or telephone. If the winner is under 18 years old, ANZ may choose to contact a parent or guardian with the winner’s consent. If a winner cannot be contacted after three reasonable attempts, the Prize will be forfeited, and a new winner will be chosen.

M. ANZ’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. The Prizes are not transferable or exchangeable.

N. ANZ may change, extend, amend, or cancel the competition or these terms and conditions at any time.

O. The information that you provide to enter this competition will be held by ANZ and will be used for the purposes of administering the Prize Draw. You have the right to access and request correction of this information.

P.  To the extent the law allows, ANZ isn’t liable for any loss or damage (including indirect or consequential loss) arising from the Prize Draw, Prize, or ANZ (or agents) acts or omissions.

Automated transactions include EFTPOS, Visa Debit, ATM, and mobile wallet transactions, as well as all electronic payments and other transactions made using ANZ Internet Banking, goMoney, Phone Banking, and ANZ Direct Online. 


Manual transactions include cheques and transactions handled by our staff for you, including at a branch, by phone, or online. Balances and basic account enquiries at a branch are free. We process any deposits received through ANZ Fast Deposit Boxes as staff-assisted, manual transactions.


Must be 13 years or over to apply for an ANZ Visa Debit card.


The Visa Debit annual card fee will be waived if the card is linked to an ANZ Freedom or ANZ Jumpstart account. It will also be waived for the first 12 months for a new card linked to an ANZ Go account (after 12 months you will be charged an annual card fee of $10). For all other accounts you will be charged an annual card fee of $10.


All overdrafts are subject to application and ANZ eligibility criteria, lending criteria and terms and conditions. Overdraft fees may apply. See ANZ Overdraft for more information.

A monthly account fee of $5 will apply if the $2,500 minimum deposit is not met. Deposits exclude transfers between any of your ANZ accounts.
