Verified by Visa

We've introduced Verified with Visa to provide extra security when you’re making purchases online with your ANZ credit or debit card. With Verified with Visa, you can have more peace of mind when you’re shopping online.

How does it work?

Verified by Visa works automatically, and most of the time you won’t notice it. But for certain purchases on sites that are protected by Verified by Visa, you may see an 'ANZ Verified by Visa' screen asking for some extra information. This is to verify it's really you making the transaction and not someone else. Once you've verified your identity, you'll be able to complete the transaction.

The first time you see an 'ANZ Verified by Visa' screen you can also enter your mobile phone number, so that in the future you'll simply be sent a text with a unique code to enter to verify that it's you making the transaction.

There's no cost to register - it's just another way we can help keep you safe online.

When it's used

Verified by Visa, is used for transactions where there may be an increased risk of fraud. Before you can complete your purchase, you may be asked to answer questions and provide extra information to prove your identity.

The questions are designed to relate to information that only you are likely to know, and the answers are then verified back to our database. This is so we can have confidence that the person shopping is really you - providing you with an extra level of protection when shopping online.
